The cooling system in your car requires regular servicing and maintenance to ensure your engine stays in good condition and does not overheat. Common cooling system parts include a radiator, a radiator cap, a thermostat, a water pump, radiator hoses, a heater tap and coolant.

Your cars’ engine will produce enough heat to heat a house when driven at highway speeds so the main function of your engine’s cooling system is to dissipate the heat into the air and prevent your engine from overheating. The cooling system must also allow the engine to reach its peak operating temperature as quickly as possible as cold engines create more emissions and wear out faster. The cooling system must also keep the engine at a constant temperature.
