Water Pumps, Radiators and Cooling Systems
AutoTec provides radiator, water pump, thermostat and cooling system testing and repairs for all makes and models of cars.
The cooling system in your car requires regular servicing and maintenance to ensure your engine stays in good condition and does not overheat. Common cooling system parts include a radiator, a radiator cap, a thermostat, a water pump, radiator hoses, a heater tap and coolant.
Regular maintenance to your cooling system includes:
- Changing you coolant regularly
- Ensuring your radiator cap holds pressure
- Monitoring the system for corrosion and leaks
- Checking the water pump drive belt is in good condition
Your cars’ engine will produce enough heat to heat a house when driven at highway speeds so the main function of your engine’s cooling system is to dissipate the heat into the air and prevent your engine from overheating. The cooling system must also allow the engine to reach its peak operating temperature as quickly as possible as cold engines create more emissions and wear out faster. The cooling system must also keep the engine at a constant temperature.
Common cooling system problems include:
- Coolant leaking
- Engine overheating
- Engine not getting to peak operating temperature
- Loose water pump pulley
- Steam coming from the radiator
